Everybody wants to go viral. Everybody wants a meme to call their own. If you have a blog, nothing (repeat: NOTHING) will deliver traffic like an out-of-control meme that pops up all over the web.

The problem with memes is that the best ones seem utterly random. Who could have predicted the meteoric rise of the Socially Awkward Penguin? And those savvy Internet types can smell a forced or artificial meme from a mile away. You can drive traffic to your site with an utter FTW, and you can win with an epic FAIL, but the vast majority of the time, you’ll get nothing for your efforts but a worldwide MEH.

Creating successful memes is partly an impeccable sense of wit and comic timing, part marketing, part clued-in ‘net’ awareness, and part dumb luck. Any one of these three elements can bloom into the next Nyan Cat or My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (especially dumb luck).

The following Android apps will put you in the best position to launch your own meme, and bring it back home. And then you’ll be the one asking: U Jelly?

7 Meme Apps for Android

1. Cheezburger Sites — LOL Images
It isn’t just about Lolcats anymore. If you want to ride the white horse of memes, you should get used to riding the white pony of meme sites, if only to get a feel for what the kids are into these days.

2. Chant 4Chan Browser
Chant will be your portal to the dark and dangerous land where most Internet memes are born. Be warned, 4Chan is not for the faint of heart or weak of stomach (and need we say it’s frequently NSFW?). Remember — what has been seen cannot be unseen.

3. MemeMaker
Yes, it’s borderline theft and unoriginal to use existing memes to make and share your own. But everybody needs to stand on the shoulders of giants such as 4Chan in order to reach the rarefied heights that only original meme-makers can achieve. MemeMaker is the perfect tool for making memes on the go.

4. Autotune
Nothing (again, I repeat: NOTHING) encapsulates the musical achievements of the 21st Century like Autotune. And nothing (need I say it again?) makes an ordinary bit of dialogue into something epic and meme-worthy like Autotune. Although Antares has yet to release an Android app, Tune Me, in both Lite and Paid versions will allow you to embrace the T-Pain or simply add tunefulness to your Chemistry teacher’s inappropriate remarks about foreigners. For instant glory, apply to the soundtrack of trending video memes before everyone else does.

5. ModFace
ModFace allows you to put the classic trollface, rageface, and countless other meme faces to just about anything. It’s a nice little compendium of memes already. Is it last year? Maybe. But that’s the great thing about memes; like a Saturday Night Live sketch, they might truly become genius only when you’re totally sick of the joke.

6. Reddit Is Fun
Reddit is Fun is both the name of the app and a self-evident assertion in and of itself. Because, after all, a fun website is fun. Reddit is where memes go to be famous or to die. Keep a finger on the pulse of what’s hot and what’s not on the interwebs.

7. Motivational Generator
Motivational Generator gives you a quick and easy way to add the right text to the wrong picture of your choice. We all assumed the demotivational craze was over years ago, but they just keep coming to prove us wrong.
