How many of you have come across situations when you can’t copy a large file from someone just because you don’t have a external storage device with sufficient memory? HJSplit is here to your rescue. It is a file splitter and joiner that works across multiple platforms,  including Windows and Linux. The freeware can be downloaded here. After you extract the hjsplit.exe file from the RAR file you downloaded, the following screen pops up.

To split your files, click on split and then select the file name and the file size in which you want your output files to be. Also feed in the output location and you are good to go. Just press start and the operation will begin.

For joining splitted files, use the join option. The split files will have extension .001, .002 and so on. So select the first input file, i.e. with the extension .001 and enter the output file name.

HJSplit is a great tool to have, as many a times people delete files having .001,.002 extension because they are clueless about what is to be done. Moreover it hardly occupies space on your hard-disk, so its definitely worth having it in there.
