What is Suse Studio?

Suse Studio is a build service from Novell. It runs from your browser. You can log in using your google account and start building your custom Linux Desktop right away. Initially you have to choose the base system which can be a base Open Suse system with or without base (minimal) GNOME/KDE. Then you move on to selecting the packages. It lets you choose from the Open Suse repository or ANY custom repository. Also it lets you upload rpm files. Then you can configure user settings including username, wallpaper (which you may upload), time settings and network configuration. Finally you can build your OS into a CD image, Virtual Machine,  EC2 cloud image, USB stick image etc. Your project will be hosted on the site and others can download it as well !!! And Novell has hosted it on an amazing server that download speed is unbelievable !!!

I made an OS “GNOMEShell Love” in around 30 mins. It has Gome shell preinstalled. But it will have to be evoked manually by running gnome-shell –replace. I would love it if anyone would love to test run it and give a feedback.
