Today Orkut got badly infected by Bom Sabado virus (meaning Good Saturday” in Portuguese) and for some time it became the trending topic in Google Trends.

Bom Sabado-Google Trends

How it works?
When any one opens a orkut  page that is infected by this worm,a javascript will run automatically on that page. Your browser will be hanged for some minutes or seconds. That script will automatically join you some communities.

Some of the communities you can see are :
Community ID numbers: 106698808
558494
106698628
106691341

After joining communities it will send scrap to your friends with text “Bom Sabado!” with a iFrame code which load that javascript again for your friends and they will join communities and send links to their friends.

For Preventive measures you can do the following:

  • Change your password .
  • Delete all of your cookies .

If you want to use Orkut then follow these steps :

Open your Host file with notepad :

Windows 95/98/Me C:\windows\hosts
Windows NT/2000/XP Pro C:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Windows XP Home C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Windows 7 – C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Add this code at the end
127.0.0.1 tptools.org

127.0.0.1 www.tptools.org

127.0.0.1 convites.001webs.com

Also, you can use Noscript Firefox plugin to stop running any script on your page . Install the script from here
.

Orkut had disabled creation on new topics on communities and now they again enabled it .

In a recent development today Google’s Youtube got hacked by a Brazilian guy .

  1. Manoj_talks

This is called a XSS attack. XSS = Cross site scripting !!!!
This was the second time attack on orkut. Still they can’t prevent it.

  2. Bishwajeet

There has been numerous such attacks on Orkut, just they dun’t come out to the traditional media. A day before there was a XSS attack just like Twitter ,you open someone’s profile and they redirect to your another site or something they wanted.

  3. Facebook Virus

    I got a Facebook message with a link to a photo yesterday…

Clicked on it and some of my friends on facebook started complaining
about me sending them the same message with a photo and that i have a virus…

anyway i’ve found http://www.howtogetridofthefacebookvirus.com/ and got rid of it, no more virus here.
