Is Google Panda update helping the Content scrappers rank higher than the original sites ?

Google announced after the Google Panda update that they have removed the low quality sites from the search engine after the new algorithm change in which preference has been given to high quality sites. But, as lots of people are ranting about Google Panda update, you can see that thousands of bloggers have been affected by this update.

With this new update, it seems that Google can’t recognize which site is the original one and which is the content scrapper .

Now, we are presenting you some examples in which we will compare the ranking for some of our articles with the content scrappers . See the screenshots below :

In the above screenshot , you can see that Comptalks is below some Computer Tricks blog and a blogspot blog Techturtles .

Here’s the original article on Comptalks :

Copied Articles :

  • Techturtles : http://techturtles.blogspot.com/2011/03/top-10-broadband-speed-test-websites-to.html

One more example :

In this above keyword ,the original article is :

You can see the Scrapper sites, the blogger blog and posterous blog in 1st and 3rd place :

Well, there are lots of cases like this ,check here in the Google Webmasters Forum .

Google promised to remove Content Farms from the search results, but it seems they are helping the scrappers higher ,somewhere the algorithm has got huge problems with original content issue and now they can’t decide which one is the original article.

This problem is faced by mostly bloggers and I think this is helping the so called content farms as the original content writers ,who might have written something quality are now nowhere to be seen in the Google as the scrappers are taking their place . So, unless you are a very big player you literally can’t do anything about it .

So, what should you do, if you are one of the victims ?

File a DMCA complaint to remove the scrapper site from Google.I never did this before this update ,as I thought will automatically do it . But now it seems a necessity for the bloggers ,as there has been hell lots of complaints in the web masters forum for this issue .

You can file a reconsideration request to Google , go here .

Couple of suggestion to Google regarding dealing with scrappers :

  • I hope they should include Feedburner/ Feed Time stamp to know the originality of a particular article, as sometimes some articles which are word by word copy of the original article are outranking the original in Google .
  • They could also include Twitter/Facebook or any other social  time stamp to know about the social presence of the article .

actually speaking, its a big YES. my site is a big copycat and after the update of google pand i have seen 40% increase in my traffic from google…

  2. Computer Tips

Same here… I have sent emails to websites to give them a chance to put a link back or take the content down…

I don’t know why I bother, it is just a waste of time. I even get big companies taking my stuff with no link back.

  3. Navin

I agree with you Bishwajeet, also I noticed that, your complaint againt that copycat is worked, google removed his link from search. Thats great, at last some good news for you.

  4. icechen1

Haven’t seen my search visits dropping, so it’s not really affecting me. I’m sure Google will tweak the algorithm as they see fit to be fair.

  5. Backlink Supreme

Well that’s good they removed it, but it sucks that there are so many scraper sites out there ready to steal whatever posts or text they can get their hands on!

  6. WPSubscribers Plugin

well this is indeed shocking…i mean u just scrao of others work, copy paste it and rank high….feel bad for the original writers….they ned to take immediate action and report to google as everyone cant afford dmca as it takes 100 dollars i guess

Panda was just lip service to the media. This whole operation is kind of like why there’s so much corn in Americans diets. Because the government pays farmers to grow it at a loss! Google in a similar fashion pays link farmers to continue to do what they do via adsense.
