Mar 4th, 2009 | By theworldwinner | Category: tips

Have you saved videos from youtube and tried to play to in windows media player? Its quite annoying to see that Windows Media player doesnt have inbuilt capablity to play .flv files. You need to use GOM player or KM player to play this type of files.

Today I found a plugin called PlayFlv which helps in playing  .flv files in Windows media player.

Features of PlayFlv plugin are:

  • Plugin that enables Windows Media Player to playback FLV files.
  • Features all default functions, such as zooming, skipping and full screen view .
  • You need to double click  on the flv file to play it on windows media player
  • Best part its free and open source .

This program installs and registers FLVSplitter. It binds FLV files to Windows Media Player, enabling playback of FLV files by double-clicking them. The installer prompts to download and install ffdshow, required for movies in Flash 7 file format. An uninstaller is included in the package.

Download it from here.

  1. I have installed K-lite Mega Codec Pack. It has all the required codes embeded. I can play any media file on Windows Media Player.

I prefer to install Codec Packs than installing one-one codec seperately.
