It has been some time since you bought your computer and you think it is getting outdated.Do you want to upgrade your computer at zero cost?

You heard it right at zero cost or  You bought a new one and you want to run the computer at its maximum speed.If it still interests you read on.Overclocking is what you should do.Overclocking is the process of running the computer at higher clock rate than default.What it usually does is it increases the clock cycles per sec.In simple terms if a processor is running at 2.6 ghz you can increase its speed to 3.2 ghz.However this is solely dependent upon hardware.Manufacturers underclock the processors so as the processors can can run in the adverse of conditions.What we will really do is unleash its true potential.

One can overclock processor,ram,graphics card and motherboard chipset.

CPU-As the name suggests it is the brain of the computer.Overclocking it will give maximum benefit.For overclocking first go into bios.It usually looks like  this

Now go the menu where there are details about FSB(Front Side Bus) frequency and multiplier.

Here we are first going to change the multiplier.Processor speed is given by product of fsb speed * multiplier.Suppose FSB is 200 mhz and multiplier is 14.Processor speeed will be 2800 mhz.First change the multiplier.Increase it one by one.After increasing boot the computer.Stress your computer by running some heavy programmes like 3D mark,memtest etc.If it crashes then decrease and continue.

Next step is the FSB frequency.Increase it in the multiples of 2/3 mhz.Repeat the same process.Boot into the computer and decrase if it crashes.Note the temperature in the bios.Do not allow it to get heated upto more than 80 degree centigrade or it will get fried.Next step is highly dangerous,so proceed with caution.Increase the voltage in 0.02 V increments.Repeat same procedure and verify.Do not increase voltage above 1.5 V.

Ram-When you increase FSB frequency ram speed automatically increases.You can further tweak voltages to overclock it more.

GPU-Increase first core clock in increments of 5 mhz.Boot and test for stability.Then do the same for shader clock.Many manufacturers provide software from which you can directly overclock GPU like trixx from sapphire,ati overdrive etc.

Overclock the computer and get ready for the performance boost without spending anything.
