Keeping your identity safe Online is one of the most important thing nowadays. There are lot of hackers/thiefs who are keeping eye on your activities and trying to get as close as possible to you by various means so to gain access to your personal information. You must try various ways to be safe in this dangerous online world. Few days back twitter accounts of very big personalities like Britney,Obama n other celebrities were hacked. Even email account of Sarah Palin got hacked and her personal pictures and email were released in public. So you must be beware of these kind of activities which may harm your privacy.

So I thought of Posting some Tips for Online security. Here goes my list:

  • Beware of Phishing: Phishing has always been a big threat to online security.Earlier  Phishers used to send fake page links by email, but nowadays with the advent of web 2.0 they have found whole new social networking  sites like Orkut, facebook,Myspace and Hi5 from which they try to get your passwords. Phishing in these sites is quite easy as compared to other sites as they provide numerous oportunities.
  • Trojans and Viruses :These are always threatning to your online life. They can crash your OS and can destroy your important informations. They can even send the data to some remote person .So if someone asks you to install certain software which you have never handled then be careful while installing that software. Sometimes hackers even hide keyloggers in pictures and send them through instant messangers,so think twice while accepting such file transfers.
  • Private Files : When you upload a file online and it is your personal file then check whether the file is downloadable by others or not whether there is enough security to hide that file from others. Even sometimes there is flaw in some big sites.
  • Never Share your Private info: Never share your private info like credit card number in some fake sites which are made for gaining your Account numbers only and can be misused. Even giving phone numbers, address  in social networks is quite dangerous .
