What is jail-breaking ?

So… I’m in need of your help as I am not a wizard as you with the pc. I hope I am doing this right. I have an ipad and windows 7. My itunes is at version 10.1.1.4 and I am confused (this happens often for me….reason I NEED YOU) SO when reading your post with windows 7 and apple do I still need to go back to earlier version of itunes prior to the upgrade? How again? Somehow I am now (at this very time) downloading both: spirit.exe (4.4 MVB- iponedowloadblog.com (download complete waiting to run) and iPad1,1_4.2.1_8C148Ewaroew.ipsw (2 hours still to go)
So which should I use on my ipad and do I have the ipad on or off before I plug in to pc? Sorry that I didn’t understand. Can you please help me?

need not go back to previous itunes versions..only the iOS version needs to be seen..DO NOT use it for android platform..try the one by geohot first…its good,should work..any case back up data.
