I have been trying hard to persuade people to quit windows and use Linux. Many used to keep shutting my mouth with four complaints :
1) MS Office does not work on Linux( This problem is handled in this post. )
2) Photoshop does not work on Linux ( This problem will be handled soon. )
3) There is no CAD software ( Answer to this problem : CAD software for Linux : Bricscad. )
4 ) Games do not run properly ( Answer to which is “Grow up kids !!!” )
Install Microsoft Office in Linux
Here is the perfect solution to “complaint no: 1″. MS Office works perfectly under wine (v 1.2). All you need to do is install wine in your Linux based operating system . Mount your MS Office iso file using mounting softwares like GMountiso or create a folder “msoffice” on your desktop and run the following command
sudo mount -o loop office.iso ~/Desktop/msoffice
[Replace office.iso with the file name of iso]
Then run the “autorun.exe” under wine [right click; run with wine]. Finish the installation and unmount the iso with the command
sudo umount ~/Desktop/msoffice
Now MS Office is installed. Most Office components like Word works perfectly. But you will notice that some like Powerpoint crashes on start-up. But do not worry !!! Fix is here.
Under the “Wine” menu in Main menu, you shall see an option “Configure menu”. Choose that option and select the “Libraries” tab. Add the following two over rides

Now you can bid a sad farewell to the ever improving Open Office for now and enjoy MS Office on your Linux system.
