Computers which have revolutionized our lives don’t have a history that is simple enough to comprehend and concluded about the exact birth of computers.Like all other complex and popular inventions this also has varied reasons for its existence . The History of Computers is quite complicated and it developed in the gradual way and now you can solve the probems with it that you might not have imagined if your birth took place 50 years ago. The journey from Konrad Zuse’s Z1 machine which was mainly used as a calculator to the “Personal Computer” which you and I are using has seen many dramatic twists and turns. George Stibitz invented a relay-based computer the “Model K”, which was the first to calculate binary form. Stibitz is also known as the father of the modern digital computer. ENIAC and EDSAC are other technologies which were important in computer’s development. Though computers which apparently are used for web browsing, playing games and word processing by an end user was used for serious military issues and country rivalry between Russia and USA.  MITS Altair 8800 was the first commercial computer sold in 1975 which was priced as $400. After that there has been no looking back. IBM, Apple and Microsoft have completely changed the definition of computers to make them omnipresent.

Computers or rather the PC used today can’t have been more useful if internet was not developed. J.C.R. Licklider led the foundation of internet by writing several memos about “Galactic Network” which could access information in electronic form- either by data or programs from a large network of computers. The key was that all of the computers in this Galactic Network would be some way connected to each other. In that year, Licklider headed up the first computer research program for DARPA. DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) was instrumental in the revolutionizing the internet technology. ARPANET was the first network in the history of internet which was closest to the modern “Internet Technology”. Sir Timothy John Berners-Lee more commonly known as Tim Berners-Lee took Internet to the next level by creating WWW (World Wide Web). Berners-Lee is the director of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), which oversees the Web’s continued development.Nowadays life without internet is impossible and it has become a core part of our life. Instant messaging, checking mails, logging in to social networks has now become daily routine to us.

Today, computers are more generally used in the form of PC. Personal computer is a collective term for Desktop computer, Nettop, Laptop, Netbook, Tablet PC, Ultra-Mobile PC, Home Theater PC and Pocket PC. Coupled with the power of “WWW”-the more apt name for the internet, computers have created a transformation which is overwhelming.
