Usually, any unread message(s) in your Gmail inbox is indicated by the number of unread message(s) at the end of the title bar like this :
But in case, you open a few more tabs, what happens is this :
The number of unread mails is not visible now. This is where Manu Cornet, Software Engineer , Google, applied a bit of imagination to solve the problem. He introduced this new feature in GMail settings, which on enabling, lets you view the number of unread messages alongside the Gmail icon. You can activate it by going here, and “enabling” the “Unread message icon”.
After enabling, your Gmail tab looks like this :
See the “1″ on the Gmail icon ??!! Pretty cool huh ??
The only requirement is Chrome (version 6 and above) or Firefox (version 2 and above). So try it out today !!
