Domain name registration process lays down the foundation for building a successful website/blog. The process can be quite irritating and frustrating as most of the common domain names are already exhausted. This leads to delay in the actual business which includes website management and content creation.

Moreover, domain name can’t be taken without giving any thought, as it’s not an easy task to change domain name of your blog and even it’s not good for your website, online business, Branding, social media marketing, etc.

You have a business idea/plan behind creation of the website. The idea should be communicated/depicted in the domain name. The domain name should symbolize your website content. Nevertheless, do remember that in order to accommodate the whole idea in the domain don’t make it too long. Long domains are not always a bad idea but shorter domain names are always easy to remember. Short and simple, is the ideal combination for a domain name.

The following is a list of Top 10 most expensive domain names:

You have chosen a domain name, registered it, and after sometime loose track of the website and forget to renew it’s registration. This won’t be overlooked by everybody, there are domain squatters, who keep on looking for such sites and once it’s out of your hand it ends up in the highly questioned domain auctioning industry which is alleged to use Shills for artificially inflating the price of domain names.

“The process for expired domains to get back into the system is complicated, but every day 20,000 or more previously owned domain names become available. Domain squatters know the list in advance, and spend time looking at Alexa/Compete rankings and lots of other data sources to try to figure out which ones are valuable. If they can just eek out $10 or so per year on a domain via ads, it’s profitable. And at scale, large amounts of money is made.” – Michael Arrington

The ideal way to earn through your Domain name is by choosing a good domain in the first place, generating quality content for the site and if you feel saturated after a point of time, estimate the value of your site and try to sell/auction it legitimately.
