In relation to this, Google launched the Android Market Webstore, for making the purchase of applications for their Android smartphones and tablets easier, i.e., through a Web browser. Earlier users had to purchase Android apps through the Android Market client from smartphones and tablets. Pulse is among the five apps to be featured in the Android Market Webstore. Google explicitly mentioned Pulse in the launch event with a short description, which was much like the mention by Steve Jobs a year ago.

1. Enable Developer Ribbon Toolbar
If you are using an older version of Microsoft Excel, it won’t have the “Developer Ribbon” toolbar. Don’t worry! Just Enable the Developer toolbar from Excel options > Popular

2. Clean the Excel Sheet

Go to view>Gridlines and uncheck Gridlines.

3. Developer Tab

Go to Developer>insert>More controls

4. Shockwave Flash Object

Choose “Shockwave Flash Object” for supporting youtube videos.

Once you click the “Shockwave Flash Object”, use the mouse pointer which changes to “+” sign for drawing a rectangle. Here, your flash object will be inserted, youtube video in a typical case. Ensure that the SIZE of the RECTANGLE must be SMALL, initially.

5. Set properties

Right click on the rectangle now and select properties. Locate the property Movie and set it to the path of your Youtube video[URL] along with ?fs=1&hl=en_US in the end and press ENTER

6. Exit Design Mode and Play
Now, you are almost done. Close the properties window and from Developer tab, click on “Design Mode” to exit design mode.

It automatically starts loading, and you can play the video!

Hi Valerie, welcome to Computer Talks we are pleased to have you with us.

Q1. When did you first thought about moving to India, and why India?
A: I have always been interested in and focused on emerging markets. While at Stanford University for my Bachelors and Masters degrees, I did my thesis research on microfinance in India and spent three months here doing field research. India is a fascinating and exciting market, and it is so very different from where I grew up, making it that much more of a fun challenge. I came here the second time more permanently in early 2008 after building up my career in technology companies, especially startups in the Silicon Valley. It was time to combine that new expertise with my passion for emerging markets and spend a few years living and working back in India. The mobile industry is growing and changing at phenomenal rates here, so being squarely in the middle of that with mChek (mobile payments startup based in Bangalore) originally and then founding ZipDial, it has been an exciting and challenging roller coaster.

Q2. How difficult it is for a woman in technology, especially in a foreign country?
A: If you’ve got the right mindset, it’s not challenging at all. At least 95% of people I know would never do what I have done, and I know a lot of adventurous people. But for me, my path has been completely natural and the obvious thing for me to do. I face difficult challenges every day, but I have never once questions my decisions. Every challenge makes me more excited to be here doing what I’m doing.
In general women in technology do face barriers in because there is much less social and academic support and encouragement for women in technical fields, but I am impressed with India in that there is a much higher percentage of women as compared to the US, for example, who do study technical fields. One challenge though is the support that women have (or don’t have) to pursue their technical careers beyond education.
However! I never personally approach my own situation with gender in mind. What matters is competency. If you are the most skilled, most energetic person for the job with the highest integrity and right values, then I don’t care if your are transgender, purple and polka-dotted! I never let gender issues enter my mind or get in the way of my work. Regardless of gender, nationality or anything else, it is most important to appreciate what every person brings to the table and always keep an open mind about learning something from everyone.

Q3. What are your future plans?
A: I plan to work with the ZipDial Team to grow the company into an incredibly strong, profitable, global company which customers, users and team members all love.

Q4. As we Indians have leapfrogged to mobile communication devices, what is the future prospect of telecommunication ventures, don’t you think it will saturate over time?
A: The market for core basic services may saturate over time as all commodities do, but with this incredible pace of growth in mobile in India and the still large and untapped market, we will not see saturation for a long time. Additionally, innovation by definition will never be saturated. Innovation, including mobile and telecommunications innovation will continue to open new markets and create new opportunities. The important thing for a company and an entrepreneur is to evolve with (or ahead of) the market.

Q5. Any special announcement you would like to convey through our portal ?
A: I am continuing to do well in “The Pitch” on Bloomberg UTV, so stay tuned and hopefully catch some great news of success for ZipDial!

Q6. How do you market ZipDial?
A: To date we have done almost zero marketing for ZipDial, yet we continue to grow rapidly now with nearly 2.7 Million ZipDials since June. We have seen extremely positive word of mouth with over 50% of our users finding out about ZipDial from friends. I recommend that before you publish the article, you check www.zipdial.com for our live counter for the number of ZipDials as it increases constantly.
ZipDial is a verb. So when our customers market their own campaigns for end users to engage, they also spread the message about ZipDialing as the new mode to engage.

Q7. How has been your experience as a contestant on Bloomberg UTV’s The Pitch?
“The Pitch” has been a fantastic experience! I have greatly enjoyed the opportunity to engage with such esteemed business leaders in India like Rahul Bajaj, Naina Lal Kidwai, Niranjan Hiranandani, M Damodaran, etc. Also very memorable are the friendships that we contestants have built. I have learned a lot from my fellow entrepreneurs and now great friends. I am honored to have shared this experience with them.
