Apple launched 2 new Macbook Air laptops to counter is recent loss of market share in the PC business . Apple has been doing great in the iPhone,iPad and iPod business and there was no great news on its PC business from the past one year . But, as usual they suprised everyone by launching 2 Macbook Air laptops of different size to capture the market.

Surprisingly the laptops won’t have any hard drive as it will use flash memory. The 11-inch MacBook Air comes with 2GB of memory and 64GB/128GB of flash storage. The 13-inch model will pack 2GB of memory and 128GB/256GB of flash storage. The 13-inch MacBook Air also includes an SD card slot.
The laptop measures 0.11-inches at its thinnest point and 0.68-inches at its thickest, and weighs just 2.3 pounds for the 11-inch model and 2.9 pounds for the 13-inch.
For connectivity, MacBook Air includes Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, 802.11n Wi-Fi and 2 USB ports. The laptop also features a Mini DisplayPort that can connect to a 27-inch Apple LED Cinema Display, projector or HDTV.
Apple Air features a full-sized keyboard for typing as well as the popular glass Multi-Touch trackpad found on Apple’s MacBook Pro. The Multi-Touch trackpad lets users pinch, swipe, or rotate to adjust an image, zoom in on text, or advance through a photo album. Apple is also bringing Facetime(a feature that was first introduced in iPhone 4) to Macbook .
Macbook Air gives you upto 5 hours of power in the 11 inch model and upto 7 hours of power in the 13 inch model and upto 30 days standby time on both the laptops .
“It’s like nothing we’ve ever created before,” said Apple boss Steve Jobs.
“We see these as the next generation of MacBooks. We think all notebooks are going to be like this one day. We’ve been inspired by some of the work we have done on iOS and want to bring them back to the Mac,” said Mr Jobs.
The 1.4 GHz 11-inch MacBook Air with 2GB of memory and 64GB of flash storage starts at a suggested retail price of Rs 60,900 (Inc VAT) with a 128GB model for Rs 72,900 (Inc VAT). The 1.86 GHz 13-inch MacBook Air with 2GB of memory and 128GB of flash storage starts at a suggested retail price of Rs 79,900 (Inc VAT) with a 256GB model for Rs 98,900 (Inc VAT).
Apple also unveiled a new version of the Macintosh operating system, called Lion, to be released next summer.
