There are a number of web browsers that are used by users on different platform be it windows, linux,Mac,Solaris or any other platform. Firefox being the one of the most used web browser in the world is quite popular among users for its fast and reliable browsing and for its addons and its security is among the best in available in browsers. People like it for its variety of addons offered by the community to make the browser more and more reliable. With the use of different addons you can configure your browser the way you want it. I thought of sharing some of the security Addons offered by the Mozilla community for users.

Some Security Addons for Firefox:

  • NoScript : An absolute must have security addon for your  favourite browser. NoScript gives you the power to specify the sites you trust and only those sites will be allowed to run active content like Javascript, Java code and other executable code. The addon thus protects you from cross-site scripting attacks and clickjacking attacks.
  • Panic: Panic allows you to instantly close all the open tabs and replace it with another tab of your choice. The default settings will take you to a Google search of “Increasing Workplace Productivity”.You can change it to your need .quite useful in college labs  or in home while surfing sites. :D
  • JSview – Allows you to view the source code of external files like javascript and CSS files. Although it requires a bit of knowledge and looking through the code to determine if it really is harmful, it can be quite useful to see if there is some malicious code sending off your passwords to somewhere else.
  • Ghostery: It keeps an eye on the websites that are keeping an eye on you i.e. it finds out that which web sites which are tracking you and would alert you about the same.Ghostery alerts you when you visit a web site that has web bugs on it. Web bugs are hidden scripts that track your behavior and are used by the sites you visit to understand their own audience.
  • Close ‘n’ Forget: Very simple add-on that closes the current tab and make Firefox forget about the visit. It suppresses the related cookies and, if configured, the whole domain from the history. You will love this addon .
  • Distrust : Firefox plug-in that hides your surfing trails that the browser leaves behind. Great tool of you utilize a publicly access computer or network.

Hopefully you guys will love these addons and add them to your browser and if you have some more then let us know. Sharing is Caring .
