St Patrick’s Day is upon us and what better way to celebrate it in true 21st century style than to download some smartphone apps on the subject.

There are loads of great ones out there so to help you decide we have narrowed it down to what we think are the ten best.
iPhone
In true Irish style let the drinking commence with Happy Hours app for iPhone. It is a great little pocket resource which lists the discounts on food and drink in pubs near you. It works in nearly every city and using the GPS means you will have directions to every cheap pub you want to go in to!
This app has a series of games and tests which you have to complete. The more miserably you do on the tests the more drunk you are. It is actually pretty effective at proving to inebriated people that they should not drive home or anywhere for that matter and has a convenient ‘call a cab’ button.
If you are taking a trip to Ireland, as many people do to celebrate St Paddy’s Day, then this little app will help you make friends at the touch of a button. It has a huge library of Irish slang which get you through your trip as if you were a local. Simply scroll through the alphabet for slang words and phrases and then all you need to do is perfect your accent.
This is essentially a St Patrick’s Day trivia quiz and has loads of interesting and fun facts to surprise your friends with. Also great to impress the natives with in Ireland if you visit or a cheating aid in the pub quiz…
Build A Card: St Patrick’s Day
Want to get into someone’s good books and impress them with your thoughtfulness? This app, with the help of your phone camera, will build a card for you in minutes which you can then share via e-mail, Facebook or Twitter.
Android
This great app has drinking games, drinking songs and works on a points system – the more you drink the more you score, simples. When you have finished as many games (or pints) as you think you can manage in one pub, simply ask the app to show you to your next drinking hole and off you go.
Fancy turning your phone all pretty and sparkly in tribute to St Patricks Day? This is the perfect app for you and will turn your phone screen into a glittering firefly show. Tap the screen to wake them and watch them dance around a Shamrock carpet. Men should probably stay away if they don’t want to ruin their reputation or masculinity.
With all the drinking and pub apps available on the iPhone it wouldn’t be fair if one wasn’t included for those Android drinkers. This app is great for locating all the quaint and original Irish pubs and directs you to each one using GPS.
Does the thought of St Patrick’s Day excite you so much that you sit there wondering how many minutes there are until the big day? Well you don’t need to use your head and fingers any more as there is now a countdown app to do it for you!
If you are not much of a drinker St Patrick’s Day may sometimes feel a bit of a washout for you, with all the emphasis on pubs and beer. However, this handy little app is full of special recipes which are a perfect way to celebrate without getting royally sloshed.
